COC expansion in the presence of increasing concentrations of the in-house prepared uZnO and SiO2ZnO NPs. For each type of NP, the first lane of micrographs shows the COC morphology after 16 h of culture; at that time, trypan blue staining was performed to identify dead cells, as shown in the second lane. Control culture (CTRL) without NPs was carried out in parallel. In all samples, the extent of COC expansion was assessed at the end of the culture (16 h) and expressed as expansion index (Ei)
