Graphs of cardiac I/R injury in male SD rats exposed by IT instillation of 200 μl of citrate or PVP vehicle or 200 μg AgNP for 1 (panels a and b) or 7 days (panels c and d). Cardiac I/R injury was induced by occlusion of the LAD for 20 min of ischemia and 2 h of reperfusion. Ischemia-reperfusion injury was expanded 1 day following IT exposure to AgNP compared to vehicle or naïve (a). Expansion of I/R injury persists 7 days following IT instillation (b).
