The role of ROS in the expression of early receptors for adhesion molecules was assessed using NAC. After 1 h of incubation of U937 cells with or without 10 μM of NAC, the cells were exposed to 0.03, 0.3, 0.1, 0.3, 1.0, 3.0, 10, 30 or 100 μg/mL of TiO2 NPs. The presence of NAC abolished the expression of sLex (a) and PSGL-1 (b) at concentration from 0.03 to 10 μg/mL. When the cells were exposed to 30 or 100 μg/mL, the reduction of sLex and PSGL-1 was partial in the presence of NAC
